All pallet stretch wrap is an extruded process using LDPE. The film on the rolls is made up of layers of extrusions. All of the regular films have anything from 3 to 7 layers. The more layers, the more expensive is the film but its benefits improve as the number of layers increases. About 8 years ago, the first generation of a new type of stretch-wrap arrived called NANO. This name relates not to the film but to the type of extruders that produce one square meter of film. This new generation of extruders could produce very thin layers of film. The film was made up of 32 interwoven layers per square meter. This meant that NANO films are much stronger than their regular cousins, who only have 3 to 10 linear layers. The then-new NANO 32 was thinner and stretched further with its 32 layers. It had far superior retention capabilities to hold the load together during transportation than the regular films.

This latest generation of extruders offers technology capable of producing 55 interwoven layers per square meter, giving superior properties of stretch with exceptional properties of load retention and puncture resistance. It can deliver savings of up to 25 to 40%, depending on the application. We have a NANO film for every type of pallet wrapper, mechanical brake, power stretch 250, 300, even 400% stretch.

Offers superior performance

  1. Very high puncture resistance.
  2. Next to no necking of the film.
  3. High containment force.

The 12 crucial benefits/advantages of using BETA NANO 55l machine stretch wrap.

(1) Your current film can be down gauged in microns

(2) It will stretch further and use 50% less film to wrap the same pallet.

(3) It will not lose any load retention properties because the 15 micron Nano is superior to the classic 23 micron.

(4) It has superior puncture resistance properties

(5) It will use less grammage to wrap a single pallet than your current film

(6) For pallet wrap with less than a 300% stretch requirement, our Beta Nano 55LZ (17 and 23 micron) are the greenest options available because they now come with 30% of recycled plastic fed back into it as standard without losing strength or flexibility.

(7) Its not possible to put recycled plastic back into the 300%-400% stretch because it makes the film weaker including our Beta Nano 55LZ at 12 and 15 micron. This means you will buy less film because of the high stretch and pay less SINGLE-USE PLASTIC TAX at £200/ton or £147.00 per pallet of stretch film or £3.20 per roll, due to this start year.

(8) There are fewer cardboard cores to dispose of requiring less skips.

(9) Less downtime on the pallet wrapper changing to new reels means it can become more productive.

(10) Less labour involved in handling it

(11) Less storage space involved

(12) It also has the edge over current NANO FILMS, financially and performance-wise.

THE BENEFITS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Currently, there are three options available to obtain a more environmentally friendly stretch wrap:
1/ Add a degrading agent to the stretch film
2/ Add recycled LDPE into the stretch wrap
3/ Use less stretch-wrap per pallet wrapped

We believe that option 2 and 3 are the best way forward for the future.

1/ Adding degrading agents generally require the LDPE to be buried. The problem here is that the OXO degrading agent cannot be placed into the recycling system because of the OXO additive. So it will have to be buried. Eventually, the buried OXO will seep into the ground and contaminate the soil. The EU is looking to ban its use.

2/ Adding recycled LDPE into the virgin stretch wrap reduces its performance and cost-saving abilities. 17 MCR is the thinnest film available.

3/ The last option uses as little LDPEV as possible. When 100% virgin LDPEV stretch wrap has finished its journey, it can be salvaged and recycled safely into any registered recycling process with peace of mind. This places BETA Nano 55 in a class of its own, especially with its 10 mcr film with a 400% stretch capability

The Single-Use Plastic Tax

The less stretch wrap that is used to wrap a pallet means that you will have to pay less single-use plastic tax.
